Art Lab: Coptic-Stitch Bookbinding
Create your own one-of-a-kind sketchbook using high-quality tools and materials like book board, beeswax, thread, bookcloth, beautiful end papers, awls and bone folders. This hands-on workshop offers everything you need to create a personalized masterpiece you'll cherish and use for years to come.
Under the charming and expert guidance of Ms. Charlotte, you'll learn the timeless art of coptic binding: an ancient, elegant, and glue-free technique. Step by step, you'll sew groups of folded paper (signatures) together using a striking chain stitch that forms a decorative and durable spine. Coptic binding not only allows your book to lie completely flat for easy sketching or note-taking but also opens the door for endless customization.
Make your book truly your own! Choose your thread colors, pick your favorite end papers, and even add decorative elements to the cover. Whether you're an artist, a writer, a lover of unique handmade items, or someone looking for a genuinely unforgettable handmade gift, this workshop is your chance to create something beautiful, functional, and deeply personal.
